What we have aimed for

We have built this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at level AA, and tested it against the points below. It goes past that standard in a few places where it matters most for magnification.

In particular:

• The site reflows to 400 per cent zoom without you having to scroll sideways to read a line of text
• Text contrast goes beyond the minimum the standard requires
• Colour is never the only way something is signalled, so nothing depends on telling one colour from another
• Buttons and links are large enough to hit comfortably on a touchscreen
• Menus open on a tap or a click rather than on hover, which makes them usable when magnified
• Every page can be used with a keyboard alone
• Headings are properly structured, so you can navigate rather than scroll
